More News From Nowhere: Morning Mail, Plattekill Avenue

Another in the News from Nowhere series, exploring what it means to be (and stay) human in a world dazzled by digital technology.

My mother frequently noted what a wonder the postal service was. For a few pennies, you could write a note, drop it into a mailbox and reach someone almost anywhere in the world. And this system was in place, not only before the Internet, but even before the electric grid!

So, despite our 5G world, Mom had it right. In that spirit, this image shows a mail delivery this past winter. Just a reminder that the quality of our personal connections has little to do with the speed of our Internet service.

I think I should write more letters. . .
