17 Jun Our Grand Ambitions for Summer
It will be summer in just a few
days. Summer, that time of year where we frantically seek to schedule just the right activities to take advantage of the great weather that is coming.
But there is one activity that we never seem to have time for anymore, a pastime that once may have been an essential aspect of America. What is it? Allow the great American sage Walt Whitman to explain:
I loafe and invite my soul,
I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass.
All the while we scurry around, Nature beckons us to take our rightful place in the Kosmos: in the shade, back up against a tree, idly contemplating the marvels in our midst.
What are you waiting for?
