16 Oct November Gets a Bad Rap
November is right around the corner. After the vivid colors of October, November and “stick season” can seem like a disappointment. For many, it’s a time that is synonymous with depression and gloom. In Moby Dick, Ishmael indicates that going a-whaling is his antidote for “a damp, drizzly November in my soul.”
That might be the perspective of a city dweller like Ishmael. But, in the countryside, November can be a balm for the soul. It reminds one that, amid its striving and tumult, Nature also makes a place for reflection and quiet. (Click on the image to enlarge.)
